Starting Music for Monday, Feb. 07, 2022
Good morning, NE Ohio and the rest of the world! It’s Monday (ugh), Feb. 7th –the 38th day of the year. Here in the Hall of Fame city, we have partly sunny skies (3 in-a-row with some sun!) to start the day, an expected low of 21 degrees Fahrenheit early this morning, and an expected high of 36. We saw 0.00” of precipitation and 0.00” of snowfall yesterday and overnight. The recorded overnight snow depth dropped an inch and is now approximately 11.00”. Winds are out of the South at 7 mph, barometric pressure is sitting at 30.19, and the humidity is 81%.
The sun came up 1 minute earlier than yesterday at 7:29 a.m. and will set 1 min. later than yesterday at 17:50 hours. The moon is at 1st quarter (40.2%) and will be out at 10:57 a.m. It will set in the wee hours of tomorrow morning.
On this date in 1997, I was living in Lewisville,TX, working for Intellicall in Carrollton, TX, and paying attention to the local sports news on The Ticket (1310 AM). That’s where I heard that the Dallas Mavericks had just hired Donny Nelson as their new GM. It was fun to watch this team slowly become a contender after their struggles during the first 10 years of my time down there. Today’s birthdays include John Deere (blacksmith/maunfacturer), Charles Dickens (A Christmas Carol, etc.), Steve “Nasty” Nash (NBA), and actor Asthon Kutcher who was hilarious as Kelso on That 70s Show.
Moving on to sports -today I’ll be rooting for the #23 Ohio State Buckeyes (Women’s NCAA Basketball) vs. the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, and Team USA in the Winter Olympics. Last night, the Cavs beat the Pacers, the Mavs beat the Hawks, the Buckeyes beat the Terrapins, and the Zips beat the RedHawks!
The stock markets were closed yesterday, as they always are on the weekend, so no stock price changes to report, but the cryptocurrency Etherium was up $0.06 to $2.29/coin. By the way, I use Stockpile for typical shares because you can order by a dollar amount instead of whole shares and build from there. My Etherium is tied to my Minds account. Minds is an alternative social site that I was using to help grow my music audience. Unfortunately, it’s gotten a bit extreme since I started using it, so I mostly just drop-in periodically to check my wallet and respond to any activity directed at me.
Well, that’s a wrap. Due to distractions, I didn’t get very far in my playlist yesterday, so I’ll be starting the day off with the next song –“Castles Made of Sand” by The Jimi Hendrix Experience. This song encapsulates some common disappointments many of us have felt, and the uplifting message of hope at the hand in the form of a crippled girl who has a life-altering epiphany just before she attempts suicide. Like many of Jimi Hendrix’s songs, the guitar work is ethereal and the lyrics are greatness!
Remember, Fear is the Mind-Killer, Don’t Panic, Keep Your Head Right with Ball, and May God be gracious to you and bless you and make His face shine upon you.
