Starting Music for Mar. 21st, 2022

Aloha world -and happy Spring for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere! It is also World Poetry/Down Syndrome Day as well as International Day of Forests. Other official holidays falling on this day include World Day to Eliminate Racial Discrimination and the International Day of Nowruz (Persian Spring Festival). Here in the Hall of Fame city located in NE Ohio (USA), it is Monday, Mar. 21st –the 80th day of the year. We are starting with sunny skies. Following are the weather stats.

Forecast temps for Sat. were 44 and 59; Forecast temps for yesterday were 39 and 53.

ASTRONOMY

The vernal equinox happened at 11:33 AM (EDT) yesterday.

Legend: binary system = solar system w/2 stars; elongation = furthest point in orbit form Earth’s PoV); occult = in front of

For those of you without a telescope, binoculars, or clear skies, check out this interactive virtual sky map: https://in-the-sky.org/skymap.php

ONLINE SECURITY

I opt out of all unnecessary cookies, don’t do those ‘what kind of animal are you?’-type surveys, don’t ‘like’ posts my friends/family share if I can’t find/don’t trust the source, and avoid most of the ‘big media’ sites. Nonetheless, I still have to remove ‘big tech’ trackers every morning:

–and this is just my PC; it does not include my mobile devices!

THOUGHTS

On this day in 1992 I was suffering from pre-wedding jitters as I was about to marry my fiancé in what was at the time, a big ol’ fancy pink hotel in Los Colinas (Irving), Texas. Hindsight shows that I had good reason to be nervous, but at the time, aside from the jitters, I mostly just remember being excited about the future and taking the next step in manhood –becoming a husband. I had a decent job, we were leasing to own a house in The Colony, my car was paid off and hers was getting close. Everything was going according to plan. Little did I know how fast everything can unravel.

It’s not easy to do, but try your best not to take anything for granted.

TODAY’S ELECTRONIC TRACK

Please keep in mind that most of these tracks are best heard through a decent set of headphones or a good set of speakers. Trying to play them on a mobile device or mono-style speaker will likely result in a disappointing listening experience. You can hear it for yourself by playing them on a mobile device without external speakers or headphones hooked-up, and then listen to them again with headphones. You might be surprised at the difference.

“Sub Antix - Minutes” by Sub Antix. This track is a Deep House/Dubstep/DnB (Drum and Bass) mashup with hints of Jazz. It’s pretty chill, with nothing too crazy, but definitely off the beaten path. It includes some unusual vocalizations that oddly work, and subdued growls that provide an underlying tension. Expand your musical boundaries and give it a listen.

Moving onward..

FINANCIALS

Everything that I’m watching saw mostly positive results again at the close of Friday’s markets (markets were not open yet at the time things were checked this morning). (NOTE: “overall” below refers to: since I’ve been tracking daily; mid-March for TKR and T; mid-February for VMEO).

TKR – temporary replacement for MTCH

The Minds coins cryptocurrency (based on Ethereum) was also up slightly this morning, approximately +$0.02 to ~$1.55/coin; -$1.31/coin overall

Check out Stockpile for traditional shares because you can order by a dollar amount instead of whole shares and build from there.

THE WRAP/MUSICAL START

Well, that’s a wrap. I’ll be starting the day off with the next song in my Spotify playlist (Randomly Cool Big List No.1), “Dancing in the Street” by Van Halen. Originally, this was the 7th track on the album ‘Diver Down’. This is one of many cover songs that VH modernized and introduced to a new generation of music fans. The first popular version, originally recorded it in 1965, featured Martha & the Vandellas with songwriting credits going to Marvin Gaye, Ivy Hunter, and William Stevenson. Many other artists have released a cover of this song as well, including The Mamas & The Papas, David Bowie and Mick Jagger, The Kinks, and more.

One of my favorite VH tracks, it also remains one of the view with overdubbing guitar by Eddie, providing that layered textured and the reason I like it so much. More often than not, VH tracks feature live guitar recording with very little overdubbing.

Side Note: headphones really bring out the stereo effects in this track! The guitar starts out in your right ear, then everything centers, then you can start hearing the overdubbing with the guitar in your right ear slightly different from the guitar in your left ear.

Remember, Fear is the Mind-Killer, Don’t Panic, Keep Your Head Right with Ball, and May God be gracious to you and bless you and make His face shine upon you.
